August 2-9, 2007 in El Salvador - SCCO Students

Twelve second year students and two doctors from SCCO, along with an entire medical team consisting of physicians, dentists, pharmacists and nurses embarked on a hugely successful medical mission from August 2-9, 2007 in El Salvador.  Along with the host organization “My Father’s House International”, we were given the opportunity to serve the people of El Salvador, from the deep rural villages to the city of San Salvador to tiny villages way up in the mountains.  There’s something so powerful and amazing about watching a patient who has lived her entire life functioning with over 8 diopters of myopia slip on her first pair of glasses.  Hundreds of patients received prescription glasses, sunglasses, and a variety of eyedrops.  The clinic days also included visits to La Casa De Mi Padre, where we were able to bond with and provide care for the orphaned children and their families.
