Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity

a 501(c)(3)  corporation, operating worldwide

Dr. David H. Eldridge is a 1966 graduate of SCCO. He served in the Strategic Air Command at Barksdale Air Force Base Shreveport, LA as the base optometrist. Following his tour of duty, he joined the eye care staff at a Kaiser Permanente hospital in Los Angeles.

Six years later he opened a private practice, where he currently practices with his associate, Dr Lynn Sheldon. Dr. Eldridge has a long history of involvement in organized optometry dating back to 1978 when he was the Director of the Los Angeles County Board of Optometry. After serving as president from 1988 to 1990 he discovered VOSH. An Introductory trip in 1991 hooked him. Dr. Eldridge has been an active member of the California chapter since 1991 and its president for the past two years. He feels VOSH has exposed him to a wide array of unmet visual needs throughout the underdeveloped world. Working with other volunteers to improve the quality of these patients has been an immensely rewarding experience for him.
Dr. Eldridge lives with his wife Sheila, in Los Angeles and has two sons, Joshua and Daniel. contact Dr. Eldridge
