Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity

a 501(c)(3)  corporation, operating worldwide

Dr. Greg Pearl was born in New York in 1956. He received his Bachelors Degree in 1974 from the University of Oklahoma. His Doctor of Optometry Degree was awarded by the Southern California College of Optometry in 1983.

Greg first heard of VOSH as a student at SCCO. He read about their missions to remote villages in distant countries and it sounded like a great adventure. He imagined the program similar to an “Optometric Peace Corps.” In 1988, with the help of three other OD’s, VOSH/California was born. Gregg and his fellow optometrists became the first Board of Directors. All of them still serve the foundation to this day.

Greg currently has two practices in Southern California: one in Norwalk and the other in West Hollywood. Although he continues to join VOSH missions to Mexico and Venezuela, Greg’s main focus has been to help coordinate missions for optometry students. He also donates his time to the Los Angeles Free Clinic.

Greg states “VOSH has paid me well in rich experiences that I would otherwise never have experienced. My only regret is not having started sooner.”
